Internship Program Overview

  • Start Date: May 12th or June 16th, 2025 (depending on academic calendars)
  • Duration: 10-12 weeks
  • Work Schedule: Standard Mon-Fri
  • Location: On-site at one of the four locations (Frederick, MD; Richmond, VA; Grand Island, NY; Pittsburgh, PA)
  • Compensation: $21.50 – $28.75 per hour (dependent on location)
  • Relocation Stipend: $5,000 for those living 50+ miles from the internship location.

Responsibilities

As a Data Science Intern at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll work on strategic projects related to data science and business improvement:

  • Partner with leadership to identify areas for efficiency improvement.
  • Review processes and proactively recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop tools and models to improve tracking and efficiency.
  • Learn and apply continuous improvement methodologies like PPI, Six Sigma, and others.
  • Collaborate across the IT function, working on projects related to Global Information Security, Digital Technology & Delivery, Enterprise Application Systems, and more.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student (rising senior) pursuing a degree in Information Technology or related field, graduating between December 2025 and June 2026.
  • No work experience required; previous internships in related fields are a plus.
  • Proven track record of results demonstrating integrity, innovation, and involvement.
  • Ability to champion change, get results, and navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with emotional intelligence.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship for a visa (current or future).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $21.50 – $28.75, based on location.
  • Relocation stipend: $5,000 for eligible interns.
